LEMCO Reef Glider is a Jet Ski model.

Description
You can find it in the dockyard of the Joint Security Headquarters, after you gained access to it by implanting the microchip into yourself. To operate it, you need to possess the Reef Glider Key which can be found on the corpse of the security commander inside the war room in Joint Security Command level. You can bring some new parts for it on your own or you can use the scrap parts which you can find in the armory of the HQ or you can tow it using the Freighter jet ski.
| Ray

Small but fast, a one-of-a-kind jet. Ray will pay good money for it - 7000 charons, or up to 20000 charons depending on your Mercantile skill. It should be noted that Ray will accept the Glider even if brought without the key, at no price penalty.
|"Devastator. The name says it all. Devastator. Manufactured by Biocorp Armory, Devastators were designed to be tanks on water and were to be used by the Underrail Protectorate. Equipped with the single state-of-the-art FC-2 fusion cannon, there isn't a vessel in this world short of a battleship that can come up against this ridable domination.

However, it turns out the cost of makin' one of these, primarily because of the fusion cannon, was too high for Biocorp Armory to mass produse, especially once they figured out they rarely needed anythin' better than their old trusty Cruiser. Around ten of these had been made, and a few have been purchased by some dominatingly wealthy gentlemen in North Underrail, one of those ended up here."|Ray}}

Foundry Prison is a location in Foundry. Its entrance is on the west area of Foundry, right outside George West's electronics shop.

Description
It is a very high-security prison located underneath Foundry. The player is allowed only into the reception lobby and the warden's office. The storeroom, surveillance room, visiting room, and holding cells are all off-limits, and trying to enter them while seen will turn the guards hostile. However under special circumstances it is possible to gain permission to enter the visiting room and the surveillance room from warden Delma Ward.

Unlike most stations in South Underrail, Foundry prides itself on having a sophisticated justice system. Anyone charged with a crime will be given a fair trial, handled by the station's current elected judge. If for some reason the judge is unable to rule in an urgent case, Foundry law allows the current Chief of Foundry Guard to substitute for them. Due to the recent passing of Judge Taylor, for the time being Chief Dalton Banner is in charge of all criminal cases until a new judge is appointed.

All of those sentenced to a prison term are required to perform unpaid community service. As Foundry is primarily a mining community, physically able prisoners are assigned to the mines. Those unfit are given jobs based on their physical condition and abilities.

No one has ever managed to escape from Foundry Prison, albeit there haven't been any attempts either. There was one instance of a prisoner riot several years back, but it was quickly put down by the guards.

* Door to the storeroom in NW corner can be opened with 35 Lockpicking or Storeroom key (Foundry)
** Storeroom has a ventilation shaft that leads to prison cells area
* Prison cells can be opened with 60 Lockpicking
* SW cell has an escape tunnel hidden behind a poster, the tunnel has a body with Old Religious Scripture oddity, 3 XP. The tunnel leads to Lower Underrail C2
Nicolas in Foundry wants you to assassinate her wife, Olivia.

Objectives
* Nicolas wants you to kill his wife Olivia, but only if you make it look like a work related accident. Otherwise, he'll refuse to pay you. You'll find her working in an explosives warehouse near the mine entrance.

Walkthrough
Meet Nicolas in his home at Foundry's residential area. Talking to him while he's drunk reveals he wants his wife killed. Suggest that you can do it, and he will angrily tell you to leave. Later on, meet him in the metalworks area, where he is working, and he will actually hire you to do so. He will initially offer 700 charons, but can be negotiated to 800 with 50 effective Mercantile. You can press him for more information about his true motivations (45 effective intimidation required), although this is purely optional and has no effect on the quest itself.

Olivia is working right inside Foundry mines. You can assassinate her by sabotaging the nearby electronically controlled mine cart either by passing a skill check (30 effective hacking required) or by stealing the keycard from Olivia's lab, or alternatively by messing with her chemistry set (35 effective chemistry required). If your chemistry is not high enough, you can try persuading her to tell you about her job (25 effective skill required) and learn how to rig the set from her (15 effective chemistry required). If you reveal her husband's plans to her, she will make a counter-offer to assassinate Nicolas instead.

Alternatively if you agree to the assassination, you can also report either Nicolas, Olivia, or both to Chief Banner. All three options will give you 1 oddity XP.

Traps is a skill and a class of items that can be placed on the ground and subsequently triggered by anything that moves over them.

Skill details
Trap mechanics
Most traps cannot critically hit, but bear traps are an exception. Like other crit-capable attacks without explicit critical stats, they use the default base values of 5% critical hit chance and 100% critical damage bonus.

Arming
Traps can normally only be placed while out of combat, but Quick Tinkering allows you to arm your next trap instantly, even in combat in which case it will cost 25 action points (can cost 0 AP with Specialization). As of version 1.0.3.13, arming traps no longer has a cooldown.

To place a trap, the player needs some points in the traps skill, the amount depending on the type of trap being used. Placing traps within the sight of friendly or neutral NPCs may provoke hostilities. Non-player characters aren't directly seen placing traps, but there are traps placed all around the Underrail nevertheless.

Disarming
Traps can only be disarmed while out of combat. Traps must be detected before a disarming attempt can be made. Disarming traps takes 10 seconds just like arming them does. Traps cannot be disarmed in turn-based mode.

When disarming a trap, if your traps skill is 20 points above the trap disarming difficulty, or if the trap is your own, you receive it as an item. Otherwise, you cannot reuse the disarmed trap. If your traps skill is 10 points below the trap disarming difficulty, disarming attempt will lead to critical failure and trigger the trap. You always successfully disarm and recover traps that you have placed.

Some enemies may also try to disarm your traps if they can detect them. Trap detection and disarming difficulty (for both player traps and traps found in the game world) is not the minimum skill requirement on the trap item. It is based on the traps skill of the character who placed the trap.

Detection
Trap detection chance is based on Detection or both detection and traps skill. There are two formulas for trap detection value, the greater of the two for the particular character is used:

* Pure detection equals 75% of regular detection value.
* Hybrid detection equals 50% of regular detection value plus 75% of effective trap skill.

Hence characters with high traps skill also have better chance of detecting traps. The player can try to disarm any traps that have been detected - or trigger them with grenades or other AoE weapons. Your character will automatically avoid walking on traps that have been detected.

The detection difficulty for traps you place is based on your traps skill and modified by the trap's detection difficulty and other modifiers like trap expert feat. Generally speaking, only humanoid and robotic enemies try to detect traps. Animals are oblivious of traps.

Zone Control
Zone Control
The level of zone control defines how well traps set by you can be tracked back to you, allowing assassination with traps but preventing indiscriminate slaughter of friendly NPCs without triggering hostilities.

See also
* Quick Tinkering - allows you to arm a trap instantly, even in combat
Description
expand section
The institute used to be a Biocorp University, but it has been expanded and renovated considerably in the past decade of Tchortist occupation.

Courtyard
At the courtyard, there's a very diverse crowd of zoners seeking admission into the Institute.
West Wing
Upper west wing houses the library. Most of the west wing is abandoned.

Lower east wing houses the refectory and entrance to utility section.

Eidein's library
The Institute's library dates back to a century, back when the Institute still was a Biocorp University. It has been expanded considerably since. Curator Nenna can be met in the library.

Library Terminal
The Library Terminal contains The Original Report, Important Dates (an overview of the Institute's notable events), Investigative Papers and Digital Literature. The Investigative Papers section contains Super Steel Refining Data and Blueprint: Regenerative Mixture, but to acquire them the player has to either have enough Hacking (100) or persuade Curator Nenna to grant access.
The Digital Literature section of the Library Terminal contains references to literary works and movies.
* Foreigner - Alien

Refectory
The refectory is the Institute's canteen and kitchen.
* Linked to the Main Hall
* Theodore sells food here (but only from the other side of the counter)
* Most Tchortists carry an Eye of Tchort (oddity), 3 XP

Utility section 1
* Linked to the Refectory northern passage
* The south room:
** Has shelves containing an Old Diver's Helmet oddity, 2 XP
** Has a locker containing a Biocorp University Emblem oddity, 1 XP

Utility section 2
The utility section is accessible from refectory kitchen, and with an elevator in Eidein's office.
* Linked to the Refectory kitchen
* The SE room:
** Has a file cabinet containing a Security Room Keycard (Institute of Tchort)
** Has a file cabinet containing a Ruined Textbook oddity, 1 XP
** Has a ventilation shaft leading to the NE room
* The NE room:
** Has a desk containing a Security Gate Keycard (Institute of Tchort) and an Encyclopedia Fragment oddity, 1 XP
** Has a ventilation shaft leading to the SE room

A part of the utility section is forbidden even to most Tchortists. It is possible to sneak in using the hidden ventilation shaft in west wing.

Genetic experiments are conducted in this forbidden laboratory, where some of the resulting creatures (called "rejects" by Tchortists) are detained. They can be freed by hacking the computer in the cells corridor (50 hacking skill needed), or by finding a key card on one of the scientists in another room.

Once the doors are open, rejects need to be directed to the hidden ventilation shaft by talking to the elder, named Sharp, and also mentioning the hole in the west wing as a possible escape route. Once the rejects are moving, they will be attacked on sight by any Tchortist guard, which prevents there escape.

It is possible to allow them to escape without revealing yourself to the Tchortists by creating a diversion. West of the cells is another ventilation shaft that leads north to another location in the same zone. Throwing a grenade there, or using a TNT charge, then sprinting back through the shaft to signal the rejects to move should give them just enough time to escape while the guards are investigating the explosion noise. On the other hand, attacking the guards, even stealthily, will turn all Tchortists hostile, since this is a controlled area. There is no quest associated to the rejects, and once they escaped they can't be seen ever again.

Quests
* Return the Reaching Man and Praepostor interview: Required to gain entrance to the Institute
* Strange tremors: Eventually strange tremors start shaking the Institute

While at the Institute, you may work for both the preservation and investigation departments.

Preservation
Mediant Samuel's jobs
* Secure Utility Station 7
* Find missing combat unit in west wing
* Track down Rassophore Nevil

Completing all of Mediant Samuel's tasks allows you to join the preservation section as a Rassophore.
Joining the preservation section will grant both Tchortist Vathosphore Armor and Tchortist Rassophore Armor. To receive the armors speak with Efreitor Hanna.

Investigation
* Pacify Psycho
* Disease-resistant DNA
* Forsaken Island Behemoth

Completing six tasks for the investigation section allows you to join the investigation section.
Joining the investigation section will grant a belt according to the department you choose:
* Bioinvestigative Belt - Department of Genetics
* Chemoinvestigative Belt - Department of Chemistry
* Electroinvestigative Belt - Department of Physics
To receive the belt speak with Usha again, messenger of Episkopos Lydia who first contacted you.
