Forsaken Island is a location somewhere on the waterways of Lower Caves.

Description
The Forsaken Island is a hard to reach island somewhere on the waterways beneath Lower Underrail. Not many captains are willing to sail there, as doing so would be almost certain suicide due to perilous currents near its shores and the mythical Behemoth that is said to inhabit the island.

Captain Svana is willing to sail to Forsaken Island for a price of 300 charons, but only once. This island is not a part of calm southern waterways that are accessible with a Jet Ski in the Underrail: Expedition expansion.

The Fossilized Claw is accessible from a hidden crack in the wall in the southern section of the cave.

Quests
* Forsaken Island Behemoth: Principal Investigator Rista wants you to go to Forsaken Island and try to find the so-called Behemoth, a large and potentially dangerous creature that is rumored to inhabit the island. If you are able to find it, try to bring some sample of its tissue or similar.

You will be working for the Chemical Assault Unit during this mission, which ultimately leads to the demise of Free Drones in South Underrail.

Objectives
* Captain Mareth sent you to find at least two cans of mutagen which is to be used against the Free Drones. He mentioned a facility that might have it, but doesn't know its location, other than it's in the cave system north of Rail Crossing.
* Captain Mareth told you to find someone in Fort Apogee that will rig the mutagen cans to release the gas with a delay. Afterwards, you are to find the entrance to under-passage, just south of Rail Crossing and link up with CAU.

Walkthrough
Two parts, both in Lower Underrail.

There are two potential sources of Mutagen D5; Bunker and in the storage site at the Abandoned Waterway Facility. The bunker can be found in the caves north of Rail Crossing's metro station. This is the bunker entrance. Once you have found at least two intact Mutagen D5 canisters, return to Mareth in Fort Apogee.

At this point you must find someone to rig the mutagen canisters with a timer. Will the mechanic in Fort Apogee's dreadnought maintenance bay can do it. Once the mutagen canisters are rigged, head to the Free Drones under-passage base in Lower Underrail and rendezvous with the CAU. You can find it in the under-passages just south of Rail Crossing's entrance. Then simply follow the CAU team's orders. Save your game before doing so just in case.

Be sure to check back on Fraser some time after completing the job. Captain Mareth will have sent you a surprise gift: Chemical Assault Unit Armor.

After this quest you might sometimes run into the Free Drone Mutants random event so that you don't forget what you have done.

Working towards opening the gate will keep you busy throughout Deep Caverns.

Objectives
* Find a way to open the large metal gate leading to Tchort.
* There seems to be some strange organic mass covering the large gate leading to Tchort. Find a way to remove it.

Walkthrough
Basically, four things are needed to open the gate:

* Functional hydraulic gate mechanism.
** This is a long hunt for gate parts.
** See Repair the gate mechanism for details.

* Electric power.
** Make your way through Arke Power Station to gain access to power distribution.
** See Restore Arke powergrid for details.

* A way to remove inert psimorphic growth from the gate.
** Mycokardia from Pulsating Roots in Mushroom Forest. This requires accumulating 30 stacks of spore infection to transition into the caverns below the forest.
** Power Hollow Earth Research Complex, use Organic Processor to turn mycokardia into Psimorphic Biocide Grenades.
** Throw one of the grenades near the inert psimorphic growth on the gate to destroy it.

* A keycard.
** Maria Hope's Keycard (Deep Caverns)
** Found inside Caerus Residential Block after restoring power to it.
** This will allow you to open the gate once the mechanism is repaired, the psimorphic growth is destroyed and the gate area (Mutagen Tanks A) is powered.
Dude had a vision... of a journey with you. Although he doesn't remember the specific details it involves gathering ingredients through his old homes. Completion grants Second Sight which allows Fast travel through rifts, with the aid of The Juice.

Objectives
* The Dude had another vision...
* Help Dude search his old home in Core City.
* Help Dude search his old home in Upper Underrail.
* Dude needs 2 mushroom brews, two measures of unsaturated psionic catalyst, two of morphine, and two of gyromitrin to make the juice for you and him. Speak to him when you're ready to continue the journey.
* Dude needs you to find any kind of mineral oil you can find in this base. It is the only way to return back whence you came.

Walkthrough
After returning the Mushroom Brew to Dude in the Rail Crossing bar, you can join him in the quest by elevating your consciousness through mushroom brew.

This transports you to the Dude's old home in Core City and gives you Heavy Intoxication a flat penalty to all stats that decreases as you journey with Dude. Zone Ma can be persuaded, intimidated, bribed with 100 Charons or insulted with intelligence into letting you search her apartment. There's a hidden cracked tile in the south-east corner containing a small key. This opens a safe behind a panel containing an Unsaturated Psionic Catalyst.

Next stop is Dude's old lab in Upper Underrail. The ingredient here is trapped in a locker in a locked room inexplicably full of mutants. The Dude left the keycard in the desk. The mutants can be fought directly or the Dude's zap-spider addled console can be used to turn on the cyro chambers and slowly refrost the mutants.

Console Puzzle
There are three sequences of numbers hidden in the trash can, chemical station and power box: 67 33 82, 79 55 11 and 76 89 25 on normal. The console has options each with 3 numbers separated by jumbles of letters. The solution to the puzzle is to sum the 3 numbers in the console options. The correct options in the console will have the same total as the 2 digit number in the clue. For example 67 33 82 requires entering in the option that equals 67 (23+31+13) followed by the option that equals 33 followed by the option that equals 82.

solution

The Dude's next home is in the Upper Caves. The Dude warns you that's there dangers inside, laser cats which go hostile when you approach the bed. There are 10 dog cages on a shelf to the south. These can to capture and neutralise at least some of the enhanced felines. They have a very low HP pool but have very good dodge and evasion. Grenades or traps are good options. The final ingredient to The Juice is gyromitrin and helping Dude remember the recipe rewards 2 oddity XP. Consuming the juice allows you to attune yourself to the rift in Dude's house.

Grey Army Base
The visions didn't warn Dude that your ultimate destination is the Grey Army Base. Dude can't make any more juice to return home but mineral oil might inexplicably provide enough lubrication for the residual juice in your body to work again. The Gun Lubricating Oil is located on a shelf at the back of armory. Access to which requires getting the Magatzin keycard from a desk in the North-West of the second level. The Grey Army Base is swarming with Grey Army Gunners, Snipers, Grenadiers, Heavy Gunners and Officers. If the original soldiers are killed the lights will cut and Grey Army Spec Ops will spawn. Retrieving the gun lube will reward you with 2 oddity XP.

==Grey Army Base
The visions didn't warn Dude that your ultimate destination is the Grey Army Base. Dude can't make any more juice to return home but mineral oil might inexplicably provide enough lubrication for the residual juice in your body to work again.
Dude had a vision... of a journey with you. Although he doesn't remember the specific details it involves gathering ingredients through his old homes. Completion grants Second Sight which allows Fast travel through rifts, with the aid of The Juice.

* Help the Dude search his old home in Upper Underrail

Walkthrough
After returning the Mushroom Brew to Dude in the Rail Crossing bar, you can join him in the quest by elevating your consciousness through mushroom brew.

This transports you to the Dude's old home in Core City and gives you Heavy Intoxication a flat -4 to all stats.

The ingredient here is locked in a room inexplicably full of mutants. The Dude left the keycard in the desk. The mutants can be fought directly or the Dude's zap-spider addled console can be used to turn on the refrigeration and slowly refrost the mutants.

For example 67 33 82 requires entering in the option that equals 67 (23+31+13) followed by the option that equals 33 followed by the option that equals 82.

solution
Tithonus Laboratory is a location in Deep Caverns.

Description
A long abandoned Biocorp facility formerly dedicated to psionic research. Drs. Wasi Abdul and John Dyson were involved in a project using monolith fragments to project psionic images. Auxiliary power supply to the suspension cells has kept some test subjects somewhat alive.

Walkthrough
Access to the backroom is blocked until the terminal is used to turn off the suspension cells. You can either hack the terminal (? Skill required, 73 is not enough)verify or use Wasi Abdul's Keycard. Unfortunately turning off the suspension cells will spawn wandering psionic projections. These are vulnerable to electrical damage and have limited vision. The gate to the suspension cell rooms and the storage room can be opened with hacking (? skill required, 88 is enough)verify or with Yuri Holland's Keycard. Once in the room, interact with each suspension cell outside of combat to disable it and remove the corresponding image.
The power station is under IRIS control. It's full of robots coming straight from automated assembly lines and other surprises such as toxic gas and cryogas in ventilation shafts.

* Enter the powerplant through the side entrance. You won't get anywhere from the main entrance yet.
** Find Utility Key, make your way through the spiders.
*** If you have high enough perception/snooping, you can find a hidden trapdoor in the toxic storage room leading directly to the storage and skip most of this area. (11 perception required for the trapdoor in the toxic storage, but only 10 for the one in the storage room)
** Find Utility Storage Keycard and head to the storage in southeast.
** Grab Utility Keycard from the storage and head up into the main hall.

* In the main hall, find Senad Roberts' Office Keycard on the second floor.
** You can exit the power station through the main doors at this point.
** Return to the first area and find Power Control Room Keycard in the station manager's office.
** Head back to the main hall and take the elevator to the power management room.
** Note that some of the doors here are roll-up, you must move right up to them to open
** Find and activate the consoles around the hallways (optionally also shut down 4 recharge pads in the hallways for the upcoming fight)
** Fight IRIS security, including couple of industrial bots and four shock turrets.
*** The fight can be skipped with high enough persuasion. (110 effective skill required)
