Recover the A-RFID Chip

Professor Oldfield has tasked you with exploring one of the abandoned Lemurian facilities.

Objectives

  • Investigate Nexus of Technology, located at coordinates K7. Report your findings to Professor Oldfield.
  • You've discovered a microchip implant encoder inside Nexus of Technology. Perhaps you can somehow use it on Phil Bridges' microchip implant.

Walkthrough

The entrance of Nexus of Technology lies in K7, however the gates to the facility are closed and player will need to find another way in.

There are few possible paths:

  • Long roundaway route leading east and north from the Nexus through the Basalt Caves and then south and west through Giant Creeper Lair. Both of these areas are inhabited with hostile critters such as crabs and creepers. Player will not be able to return the same way.
  • Player can alternatively dock their jet ski in the Fetid Marsh at coordinates J6, then go two zones east and break a wall in the NE corner of L6 with a Jackhammer or TNT, unlocking an entrance to the Nexus. Marsh is filled with Locusts, their Hives and Heartbreakers, so players who choose this route are suggested to first stock up on Antidotes and Ironguts.
  • If player has explored Crimson Meadow Horticulture Center first, they can use the Pesticide Gas Grenade to destroy thick mushroom vines which block the way in the Giant Creeper Lair, two zones east of Nexus. This will create a shortcut to the Nexus, allowing to skip majority of enemy encounters in Basalt Caves.
  • With 10 Agility player can jump to the other side at coordinates L7, just one zone east of the Nexus. This is the shortest route.

Nexus is a multi-level facility. Once player managed to get inside, they will end up at the lowest level and will need to activate the Power Substation Unit in the SW corner. Player may encounter some crabs on their way to the generator. Once it is activated, the power will be restored to the Nexus and player will be able to travel to the other floors or leave the facility.

Each floor is filled with inactive Strongmen and Handmaidens that will be reactivated if player makes too much noise or gets spotted by a camera.

Sneak through or defeat the now active robots and use the elevator to travel to the Level 7 - Security. The goal of your mission is to obtain the Microchip Implant Encoder, found in the overgrown desk in the southern part of this level. Player will need to either hack the door west of the elevator (110 Hacking required) or obtain the Security Keycard from level 6 - Robotics, found on the dead technician in the NE corner.

After opening the door on the Security floor, player will have to fight some spiders after which they need to either hack the console (80 effective skill) and open the south gate or open the vents and travel through them to the south area (there are some more creepers inside the vents). If player doesn't have enough hacking or is unable to open the vents, they will need to use the console to open the northern gate. Behind it, there will be some spiders which will alert the cameras nearby, activating the handmaidens, creating the fight between the two. Once both are taken care of, go through one of the opened vents in the northern area.

Go to the overgrown desk and use the microchip encoder to upgrade your clearance level. Doing so awards the player with 2 oddity or 2000 classic XP. There are more floors to explore, however there is no need to do anything else in the Nexus to finish the quest and player can now leave the building and return to Professor Oldfield. Howver once you go back to the courtyard, a great statue of Naga Protector will become active and attack the player on sight. If you are incapable of defeating it, you can stun it with the EMP Grenade and run away. The gate control panel will be active now, so you should be able to quickly return to your jet ski if you docked it in the pier of the Nexus.
