Combat Gloves are a type of melee weapon added in 0.1.9.0. Some unarmed feat bonuses transfer to fist weapons, but not all. Gloves/fist weapons are meant to be an alternative path to unarmed characters and also allow them to overcome some of their big weaknesses such as lack of AoE and burst damage.
All combat gloves bypass 80% of target's energy shield.
