Your non-critical crossbow, melee and bullet-based firearm attacks deal additional mechanical damage equal to your level, up to maximum 20 bonus damage.

Expertise is a feat. Whenever a character with expertise deals mechanical damage with a non-critical bullet-based firearm, crossbow, or melee hit, the character's level is added to the damage. As it specifies bullet-based firearms, it does not work with Shotguns.

Expertise triggers only once for each separate mechanical damage listed on a weapon's tooltip (such as those on spiked gloves), but it triggers with each Burst shot and other secondary attacks like spikes on metal armor or boots.
