Hunchback Mutants are a variety of even by mutant standards horridly disfigured mutated humans. They appear to be products of mutagen experiments carried out in Core City and Upper Underrail, and this is where they are still typically found today.

Description

The unnatural upper body muscle mass of hunchback mutants provides them with such physical strength that they became able to pick up objects suitably heavy to be used as improvised weapons, either to throw at their opponents, or simply break their skull with it. There are several objects that can grab their attention:

  • Rocks can be picked up from rock piles, each pile containing 3 rocks. When used as a melee weapon, hunchbacks can deal 162-263 Mechanical damage with them. When thrown, they deal 100-200 Mechanical damage at the place of impact, less to those only indirectly hit by the shards. Although based on the location they are found in rocks can come in regular or cave variety, the two only differ in their appearance.
  • Explosive barrels make somewhat weaker melee weapons, dealing just a mere 121-222 Mechanical damage, while also being much harder to replace. Being extremely volatile, the hunchback mutant's every hit carries the risk of an explosion. If that happens, either in melee or after thrown, the barrel deals 50-75 Mechanical as well as 50-75 Heat damage at the center of the explosion, but once again the damage decreases with distance.

If they fail at finding a weapon, hunchbacks can still fall back on using their claws, dealing 84-126 Mechanical damage with each hit, with a chance to inflict bleeding wounds that deal 50% of the damage over 3 turns. Like any mutant, they are also capable of yelling, however lack the ability to shoot acid blobs. As for resistances, they have only the usual immunity to Acid and Bio damage.
