Upper Caves or Metro Caves are the caves directly connected to Lower Underrail, far above both Lower Caves and Deep Caverns.

Description

Some wall breaches in Lower Underrail lead to these adjoining caverns. They are inhabited mostly by various wildlife and largely devoid of human life, except the occasional bandit camp here and there. Ruins of old military facilities can be found even in these caverns, despite them not being directly connected to Lower Underrail's systems.

All sorts of critters reside in these caverns, and few humans can be occasionally met.

Part A

This part of Upper Caves is initially accessible for the most part. They area near the South Gate area. Some passages must be opened with TNT Charges.

• The southeast stairs lead to Lower Underrail, area Lower Underrail A4
• Is inhabited by some Pigs and Warthogs
• Has several respawning Cave Ears
• Has a respawning Mindshroom
• The rubble in the NW corner contains a Trilobite Fossil oddity, 1XP

Upper Caves A2

• The west exit leads to area Upper Caves A3
• The north exit leads to area Upper Caves A4
• The south exit leads to area Upper Caves A1
• Is inhabited by a few Azuridae
• Has some respawning Lake Mushrooms
• The door to the boxes requires 35 Lockpicking
• The box behind the door contains an Encyclopedia Fragment oddity, 1 XP
• Can be fished in this area: Minihead, Demon Squid, Blue Eel

• The east exit leads to area Upper Caves A2

• Is inhabited by several Rathounds and a Rathound Alpha in the building
• The box near the dead man inside requires 50 Hacking
• The shelves in the northeast room contains a Strange Comm Device oddity, 1 XP
• Brno LMG unique LMG can be found here, mounted on a quad inside the building
• You can raise the gate with 9 effective Strength

This part of Upper Caves becomes accessible once the player has TNT Charges or Jackhammer. If entering from Lower Underrail, they are located north of Rail Crossing train station. If entering through other Upper Caves, they are north of Milton's camp.
